A glimpse into what people experience when they walk into Sox Place.
Hello Friends, There’s something powerful happening inside these doors—and I wanted you to hear it from someone who experienced it firsthand. Recently, I chatted with Dr. Chrysandra Brunson, who leads a nonprofit called “The Calling” and reaches over 300,000 people online. She came to Sox Place, walked the space, met the people, and felt what this place really is. You can watch our full conversation on Instagram or Youtube. When she asked me what Sox Place is all about, I told her this: for 24 years, our goal has been simple—to love the people who walk through our doors. That means food when they’re hungry, clothes when they’ve got nothing left, |
and a place to rest when the streets have worn them down. But more than anything, it’s about relationship. We meet people exactly where they are and walk with them toward what’s next.
We see everyone here—babies, kids, teens, young adults—but most of the people we serve are in that late teens to early 20s range. And when they walk in, something shifts. The tension drops. They’re not looking over their shoulder anymore. They can sit, eat, sleep, breathe. For a lot of them, this is the only place in their day where they feel safe. Where they feel normal.
This started years ago with my dad and me just going out into the streets of Denver and building real relationships with people who had been overlooked. No stage, no spotlight—just showing up, being consistent, and caring. Over time, that turned into a place. A home. What you see now.
There are a lot of ways people step into this. Some come volunteer and sit with people, build relationships, remind someone they matter. Some give financially to help keep the doors open—because without this space, this doesn’t exist. Others bring clothes, food, or basic essentials. It all matters.
If you’ve ever wondered what Sox Place really is… this is it.
It’s not complicated.
It’s just love, lived out consistently, day after day.
With gratitude,
Jordan Robinson
