The First Time Tin Slept Without Fear
What started with socks ended with healing. Tin’s story is proof.
Dear Friends,
I want to tell you about a guy named Justin. We call him “Tin.”
Tin’s story starts hard. Born into addiction, in and out of foster care before he was even ten. By sixteen, he was emancipated and trying to survive on his own. By nineteen, he was on the streets of Denver—hooked on heroin, homeless, and hustling just to stay alive.
That’s when he met my dad. No building. No staff. Just Doyle with a backpack full of socks. At first, Tin didn’t trust it, he’d seen too many people doing “charity” for show. But Doyle kept showing up. Real. No agenda. Just love and socks. And that broke through.
Years passed. Tin got clean. Met his wife. Got off the streets. They just hit two years in stable housing.
Now when Tin looks back, he remembers what it was like to have to walk all night because there was nowhere safe to sit. He remembers what it meant to finally sleep in a bed and not worry about being harassed, threatened, or forgotten.
Sox Place is where Tin’s healing began. Not with a program. Not with paperwork but with someone who knew his name.
Thank you for making that kind of healing possible.
With gratitude,
Jordan Robinson
