We Wanted You to Hear This from Us First

Hi everyone,

I want to share an update with you about an incident that took place today at Sox Place.

Earlier today, one of our regular guests was shot on our patio by another individual who has frequented our space. The young man was transported to the hospital, and we have been told he is expected to survive. He is currently undergoing surgery.

Law enforcement responded quickly, secured the scene, and an investigation is ongoing. At this time, the individual responsible is not in custody, and detectives are actively working the case.

We want to be clear about a few things. Our staff is safe. All other guests are safe. The situation was contained quickly, and we are cooperating fully with authorities.

Moments like this are difficult, but they are also a reminder of the reality many of the young people we serve are living in every day. The streets carry a level of trauma and violence that doesn’t simply disappear when someone walks through our doors, but we remain committed to being a place of consistency, safety, and care in the middle of that reality.

We care deeply about everyone involved. These are not strangers to us, they are people we know, people we’ve built relationships with, people we love.
